There are many museums and monuments to visit in Amsterdam, Holland. They are scattered throughout the city of canals and bridges. This city has more than 6000 spots declared of important historical value. In this section we´ll mention a few of them. In Amsterdam the culture is not seen, it´s breathed in and seen through the eyes. It is a city that is recommended to be seen by foot as there are many beautiful things to see that may be missed if you´re driving.
We start our tour of museums in Monuments in Amsterdam, Holland by visiting Anne Frank´s House, the house where the author of the her own diary lived. It will definately give you a feel of what they must have gone through. Truely a humbling experience. The Van Gogh Museum is not far away. In this museum you´ll see many art pieces by the famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. The National Museum of Amsterdam is also a very interesting one to visit, and it is here where you´ll get the chance to see improtant workds of art of the Golden Era of Holland. But most importantly the Rembrandt Museum is by far the jewel. Located in the Jewish Quarters of Amsterdam you´ll see famous works by this famous paintor.
The Amsterdam Royal Palace is found in front of the National Dam Museum, a breathtaking building next to the central train station or Oudekerk, church in the Red district where you can enjoy a beautiful concert.
If you want to be outdoors and experience the city we recommend Rembrandt Square where you´ll find tons of bars, restaurants, disco´s and so much more. As the night falls you´ll better appreciate the bronze statue of the paintor.
Another thing that truely deserves mention is the National Dam Museum of Amsterdam that was built in the 20th century in front of the Royal Palace in the city. It is surrounded by hotels and shopping streets, yet it is truely emblamatic. You´ll find the Obelisk of Amsterdam where on May 4th it rendered homage to the fallen during the Second World War. |
